This morning we went with a tour guide to see the ancient ruins and monuments in Rabat. It was amazing to see some of the intricate work and detail in the mausoleum.
From Rabat we headed towards Chefchaouen. On the way we stopped at some farmers selling their produce on the side of the road.the were delighted to share their produce with us - so we tried mandarins, radish, cauliflower, horseradish, carrot and fennel. They really seemed to enjoy talking to us, although they could not speak any English and we could not speak any Moroccan, The Moroccan language is a mix of Arabic, Berber, French and Spanish.
When we arrived at our Chefchaouen accommodation we had a cup of Moroccan mint tea, some local biscuits and then headed out to view the sunset over the city. It was lovely, we walked through the Medina, which are these tiny streets only wide enough for three people to walk beside each other. Most of the houses are painted blue, which is meant to keep the mosquitoes away. I don’t know if it works, but the results are very pretty and great for tourist photos.
