4 January - Barcelona

Although we did the walking tour yesterday, we had booked the tour of the church through viatour. We walked to the Sagrada Família and met the tour company at their premises down the street.

The tour guide Isaac spoke English and talked to us outside the church about the history of the church and the designing by Antoni Gaudí. Much of the information the guide had told us yesterday. When asked the guide confirmed that the tour would not go into the towers despite it saying that on the website. I was very disappointed.

After security we headed into the church with our headsets so we could hear Isaac. The church was even more amazing inside than what it was outside. We were taking lots of photos it was so unique.

When it was 12 o’clock I went into the prayer room to say the angelus - very hard when it is all in Spanish.

After we had a thorough look around, we decided to do something different and caught a taxi down to the beach. We had a great walk around in the sunshine, taking more photos and people watching.

We had lunch at this nice outside restaurant - not a cheap meal but our first seafood. Peter, Jordyn and I shared a paella while Addison had calamari. Nick had a child’s meal of chicken and chips - petite meal. Jordyn also had a calamari, after which she felt very unwell and was sick. We returned back to the apartment not too long after that.

We had a bit of a rest at the apartment and got the kids some two minute noodles in a cup for dinner. Peter and I went out to have some tapas. Sometimes you get what you pay for. The meal was a bit cheaper than the other restaurants but the quality was also low. One of the worst meals we have had away. The potatoes were ok but that was about it. The tuna patties were cat food, the salami inedible and the break a mystery.
